Hello there Glamazonians! Normally after every award show I only talk about the fashion, but not today! The B.E.T Awards surprised me a lot this year, in a good way of course. In past years, there would be a couple of stand out performances but this year there were many! One of my fave moments was when R&B crooner D’Angelo (most 17yr olds have no idea who he is well I am obsessed!) who performed on television for the first time in a decade. I am NOT forgetting about Ms. Melanie Fiona! She tore the stage apart with her soul wrenching song. And I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the tribute to Donna Summer sang by Chante Moore. On to the fashion! Chaka Khan, Selita Ebanks and Mariah Carey were some of my faves!
I loved Mariah’s gown! Unfortunately she didn’t walk the red carpet, so we don’t know the designer of that gown. It was great seeing her even for the few minutes she was on stage!!!! Love her to bits!
SELITA EBANKS LOOKS STUNNING IN THIS FALGUNI & SHANE PEACOCK GOWN! THE BLACK SHEER MAXI SKIRT ADD A TOUCH OF SEXINESS & SOPHISTICATION, DON’T YOU THINK? I know what you’re thinking, it’s just a simple black dress why do I love it so much. Well look at Ms Chaka, she’s wearing the dress, not the other way around. She lost 60 pounds and looks STUNNING!!!! I soooo want to look like her when I’m 60 years young!!!
A big Congratulations to Meagan Good and new hubby Devon Franklin who wed on June 16th in Malibu,California. The couple glowed as they walked the red carpet.
I actually like this ensemble. The former Fresh Prince of Bel Air actress looked amazing with this yellow skirt which popped on the carpet.
LOVING THE LACE LBD!
I wish Kerry spiced up this ensemble but then again I don’t blame her, with that heat minimal clothing is needed!
I LOVE THIS JUMPSUIT!!!!! LALA IS FIERCE FOR WEARING SOMETHING DIFFERENT!
One of my hollywood crushes, Boris Kodjoe(fellow Ghanaian!!!), stunned us as usual in this grey suit. I know it’s predictable but let’s face it, whatever Boris wears looks AMAHZING!!!!
This dress was different from everyone else’s. I really like the print (I have a pair of really cute shorts with this print!). Her hair and makeup was perfect.
Tank, Tyrese & Ginuwine formed the R&B group TGT, and are planning a ‘shirts off’ tour! I NEED TICKETS!!!!!
If you’re a fan of Fiercely Glamazonian, then you know of my undying love for Monica! I love the purple sequined trousers and structured purple blazer! She looked like the true star she is!
It looks like every time we see Tocarra Jones, she shrinks! I like the dress but the styling wasn’t up to par. The shoes shouldn’t see the light of day and the accessories is another story. The hair isn’t quite right either! Love her though:)
Now this Top Model alum did it right! Simple dress with fierce accessories!
****AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO B.E.T FROM YOUR ONE & ONLY.
IF YOU NOMINATE AND FLY ARTISTS FROM OTHER COUNTRIES TO THE B.E.T AWARDS PLEASE BRING THEM OUT ON STAGE TO RECIEVE THEIR AWARD! I AM REFERING TO THE ‘BEST INTERNATIONAL ACT; AFRICA’ CATEGORY. I FOUND OUT ON THE INTERNET THAT GHANA’S(my home country) OWN SARKODIE & NIGERIAN ARTIST WIZKID BOTH WON THE AWARD!!!! I BET AFRICAN KIDS IN THE U.S WOULD HAVE LOVED TO WATCH THAT! JUST A SUGGESTION, B.E.T! A closer look of Sarkodie’s suit is below:)
YOU DIDN’T THINK I FORGOT THE WHITNEY HOUSTON TRIBUTE DID YOU?!? WELL I DIDN’T!
The tribute was flawless! Mariah Carey gave a touching speech about her friendship with Whitney. Like the audience and much of the viewers at home, I was also hoping we’d get to hear Mariah sing, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. Monica sang Whitney’s rendition of ‘I LOVE THE LORD’ so beautifully. Monica made the audience teary eyed but Brandy brought smiles to our faces with songs like, ‘I’M YOUR BABY TONIGHT’ & ‘I WANNA DANCE WITH SOMEBODY’(the first Whitney song I ever heard). Whitney’s brother, Gary Houston, also performed in honour of his little sister. The most tear jerking moment was when the late singer’s mum, Cissy Houston sang ‘BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER’ in memory of her daughter. Chaka Khan dried our tears when she came out singing,’ I’M EVERY WOMAN.’
Monica stunned the audience in a dress from Alexander McQueen’s 2010 collection. This ensemble was perfect for the songs Brandy performed.
Gospel singer and mother of Whitney Houston at the 2012 B.E.T Awards.
Chaka Khan rocked the packed house with her song ‘I’M EVERY WOMAN’ which Whitney recorded in 1993.
