GLAMAZONIAN WRAP-UP: 2015 B.E.T AWARDS

Hello Glamazonians! I won’t bore you with reasons why I’ve been neglecting my blogging duties, so let’s get on with judging the lives of the rich & famous, shall we? If you were on any social media site ON Sunday night, you heard of the shenanigans that was the B.E.T Awards. And I mean shenanigans in the nicest way possible. To put it best, The B.E.T Awards is the only place you can hear a rapper sing about “getting money” , “bitches & hoes” and “twerking” and go right back to praising the Lord all in a span of three hours. I call it the charm of BET. Isn’t that why we all tune in every year? Tracee Ellis Ross & her black-ish co-star Anthony Anderson did a phenomenal job of hosting and don not get me started on Tracee’s wardrobe changes during the show. Chenneling her Queen mother the entire night.

BEST PERFORMANCES:

Bad Boy tribute. I must say, I’m not the kind to get uber excited about award show performances as I have watched so many of them, but the moment Faith Evans came out in that fur coat and sleek straight hair, I swore I heard the heavens sing! And just when I thought the performance couldn’t get any better, Lil’ Kim ascends from a pit in the stage looking like the Queen she is. Other stars on the Bad Boy roster that joined P. Diddy were Ma$e, 112, Lox, Jadakiss and Sheek Louch. They broke out ’90s hits including, “Mo money, Mo Problems” ,“Peaches and Cream,” “All About the Benjamins” and “Love Like This” with a posthumous video performance from Notorious B.I.G. Shea Serrano wrote the best piece about the tribute over at Grantland, so hop over there after you’re done here!

GLAMAZONIAN RED CARPET REPORT: 2014 MTV VMA’s

Hello Glamazonians! This weekend has been filled with fashion faux-pas and fashion a-ha’s during the numerous award show events. But before we delve into red carpet craziness at the VMA’s let’s discuss the main event! It seemed like the girls were running the show which was perfectly okay with me. From Nicki Minaj‘s opening ‘Anaconda‘ number, to Ariana Grande‘s ‘Break Free‘ performance to the girls joining the impeccable Jessie J on ‘Bang Bang.’ Can we have a moment of silence for the slayage that is Jessie J?!?

GLAMAZONIAN RED CARPET REPORT: 2014 INDEPENDENT SPIRIT AWARDS

Hello Glamazonians! It has been over a month since I have updated this blog and I have missed you all! I appreciated the lovely emails you sent my way asking if I was ever coming back to Fiercely Glamazonian. Unfortunately, school work was getting in the way but it’s nothing a little scheduling can’t fix, even if it means sacrificing sleep, so be it! Back to business, shall we? The 2014 Independent Spirit Awards were in full swing on the eve of the biggest night in Hollywood and some of the fave starlets arrived to collect their accolades. Lady Lupita Nyong’o, whom I have been rooting for, arrived in a metallic gold romper. Dallas Buyers Club actor and one of my future husbands, Jared Leto, looked oh-so-handsome in his casual black trousers and leather jacket.

WHICH MUSIC DIVA’S ALBUM SHOULD YOU BE PURCHASING??

Hello Glamazonians! I have completely run out of excuses for you lovelies on why I haven’t posted in a few weeks. But seriously though blame my professors for all the papers I have to write and exams I have to study for. As I am currently taking a break from my Macroeconomics paper, I have Leona Lewis’ new single ‘One More Sleep’ on repeat, I decided it was ample time I spoke to you lovely people. My fave music Queens and Princess are releasing albums left and right and I am here to convince you why you should by them.

Queen Celine Dion‘s LOVE ME BACK TO LIFE– I must say when I first heard the lead single from the album, I was in music heaven. The album was released on November 1st.

Queen Mariah Carey‘s THE ART OF LETTING GO– As a huuuuuge fan of MiMi, I remember when the second single, also the same title as the album, was released. We all recall the drama behind the wrong mix of the song being released and the queen long letter to the fans.  “I am involved with every record I make, from the inception to the completion of the song,” she wrote. “Every nuance of the beat or vocal matters to me. Even if the differences may seem slight to you, I had put time, effort and emotions into ‘The Art of Letting Go‘ and the real mix is how I intended for you to hear the song.” The album is rumoured to be out early next year!

Queen Toni Braxton‘s LOVE, MARRIAGE & DIVORCE– This is probably the album I am most looking forward to. Toni teamed up with Grammy winning singer and songwriter Babyface, for their first duet album. This is Toni’s first album after rumours of her retiring from music. Love, Marriage & Divorce hits stores on February 4th.

Leona LewisCHRISTMAS, WITH LOVE– As you all know, I love all things Christmas, so when I found out months ago my music princess, Leona, was working on her first Christmas album, I was elated. I’ve had the first single off of the album One More Sleep, on repeat all day! Loving the whole Motown 60’s vibe of the album. I hear ‘Your Hallelujah‘ is even stronger and I just cannot wait to hear it.  Lee’s album drops on Dec. 3rd!

Kelly Clarkson‘s WRAPPED IN RED– First of all, can we say that my fave American Idol slayed the entire album especially her rendition of Run, Run, Rudolph. And I of-course cannot forget Silent Night, the record she did with Reba McEntire and Trisha Yearwood, which sounds very hymn-like and is sure to put anyone in the holiday spirit. Kelly, who is expecting her own bundle of joy dropped her album on Oct. 25th.

Now to answer my question, “which music diva’s album should you be purchasing?” Well, my answer is… ALL OF THEM!!!!! Trust me, you won’t regret it. Have I ever led you Glams astray?

GLAMAZONIAN RED CARPET REPORT: 2013 MTV VMAS!!!

Hello Glamazonians! From seeing my fave girl group, Danity Kane, reunite on the red carpet, to screaming my guts out during the NSYNC reunion, the VMA’s was nothing short of a spectacle. I use the word spectacle because, well, if you’ve seen the show or live on planet earth, you’ve heard of Miley Cyrus‘ twerking debacle with Robin Thicke. Don’t worry I won’t soil your day with a clip of the performance. Let’s get started with this red carpet recap, shall we?

GLAMAZONIAN TUNE OF THE WEEK: JOSS STONE ‘THE LOVE WE HAD’!!!

Hello Glamazonians! You all know by now how much I adore Joss Stone‘s voice. So color me elated when I heard ‘The love we had’, a single off of her ‘The Soul Sessions Vol. 2′ album. Please buy it because there aren’t too many true vocalists in main stream music today. I really need to see her in concert one of these days.

P.S The official video for ‘The Love We Had‘ comes out on the 7th of July! Can’t wait!

GLAMAZONIAN WRAP-UP: B.E.T AWARDS 2013!!!

Hello Glamazonians! The B.E.T Awards aired tonight and I must admit, this is the most fun I’ve had watching this award show in the last few years. Where do I start? Queen Mariah Carey‘s performance with Miguel, R. Kelly‘s 4 minute rundown of his catalog, Charlie Wilson‘s flawless performance with Justin Timberlake, Pharrell and Snoop Dogg(Lion?) If someone where to ask me who A$AP Rocky was, I wouldn’t know what to say to the person but ask me what my fave R.Kelly song is and I’ll be able to give you a rundown. And let’s not forget Robin Thicke with T.I and Pharrell singing my ultimate summer song, Blurred Lines.

I think my fave performance was probably a tie between the Charlie Wilson tribute and the Island takeover. As a lover of Dancehall music, I was in heaven when Beenie Man came out and started “Who Am I. Dawn Penn performed “No, No No” and Chaka Demus and Pliers performed their smash hit “Murder She Wrote.” The final performer was Elephant Man, who jumped on stage for “Pon Di River.” I literally could not sit still during the whole performance. I shall post a clip of the unbelievable mash-up once I get the chance.

The question I kept asking myself after the show was: why on earth didn’t Justin Timberlake perform Mirrors?

TUNE OF THE WEEK: KELLY CLARKSON “PEOPLE LIKE US”!!!

Hello Glamazonians! My new obsession is Kelly Clarkson‘s new song “People Like Us.” I expect this song to play on every single station, well because which Kelly song isn’t on rotation constantly; not that I mind of course. Can we talk about that little moment Mariah Carey and Kelly Clarkson just had, please? I would have had the same reaction Kelly had, heck I probably would have passed out on that stage! Y’know standing close to MC is a blessing few people get to have; ignore me I’m just fangirling over here!
